Jen - R.I.P.

I have really bad news which is a really bad way to start a post, but I don't know how else to say it.

About an hour or so ago, I got off the phone with Jen's friend.They're roommates, but she spends all of her time at her boyfriends and only comes home once a week or so. When she got home yesterday, there was no sign of Jen. She didn't think anything of it at first, but then she noticed Jen's keys and remembered that the door wasn't locked. Which isn't like Jen at all. So, she called Jen and heard Jen's phone ring. It was sitting right next to where her computer normally is but wasn't.

From there, she went into Jen's room which is where she saw her. Laying in bed on blood soaked sheets. Apparently, there was an intruder. Jen heard them and, they assume, attempted to scare them off and defend herself with a baseball bat. The only real sign of struggle was in the bedroom but dining room/office was also a bit of a mess, but more just papers everywhere. Which, if you know Jen, you know to expect. And Jen's computer was missing.

They haven't gotten around to notifying everyone and, honestly, they may never have thought to come here. But, when they were going through her papers and picking things up today, they found a folder filled with printouts of the craigslist posts and it stood out because I had mentioned craigslist in my voicemail. I wish that I could just stop there. And I really feel like I'm betraying Jen by not because this is obviously something that she did npt want us to know. But, in that folder was a note. The moment she started describing it, I knew exactly what it was. A watercolor note with a cat on it that talked about crumbling city. I will probably regret this later, but I uploaded the scans she sent me to the wiki (Front, Back). On the one hand, Jen didn't want us to know. On the other, maybe this stuff matters. And it might not make sense now, but it may someday. And maybe when that day comes, Jen would want us to know. So, please, don't hold the ramblings of some guy in Virginia against her and don't be angry at her for not sharing this with us. I don't know that she would have, but she obviously had her reasons. Secrets are born out of regret. We all have regrets, so let's not judge her for hers. Instead, let's remember her for her strength and her humor and her friendship.

A jar of nutella, her favorite treat, that that's how she'd want it.

And Jen, I miss you so much. The late night calls and the jokes about those sexy little geek boys and just always making me feel better about everything. You knew how to lighten a situation and you knew how to stop me from worrying about things. We only met once in person but you really were one of my closest friends. I will always love you.

Jen, you never did share my taste for music. So excuse this, but it's a beautiful song and I never really noticed it before an hour or so ago. I looked for a video of it, but came up empty. So everyone is going to have to settle for the lyrics. At least the singer is a blonde. He's a hippie - oh yeah, he's a hippie. But he's blonde and a blonde with an accent!

By now it's obvious that you are targeting those who frequented this forum in the past. It seems likely that you tried to shut them down a few months ago. It only stands to reason that you are reading this now.

It's too much and it's gone too far.

I can't imagine what these poor people have done to make you act out in this way. I can't believe that these seemingly well-intentioned individuals could have done anything to deserve what you've brought against them.

And no matter how bad it could have been -- if there even is anything -- no one deserves what you've done.

So pay attention:

This is unforgivable.

And you owe an explanation. At the very least, you owe that. We'll be waiting to hear it, you cowards.

But don't expect a friendly reconciliation. We'll be coming for you. I'm not sure anyone here would disagree with that. And I don't imagine it will surprise you to hear it.
